Digital Strategist



FleishmanHillard HighRoad (FHR) is seeking a Digital Strategist for our Toronto or Ottawa office.


As the Digital Strategist, you will be responsible for leading and developing digital strategies and providing counsel to a variety of clients on projects and ensuring clients achieve their goals.  Part strategist, you’ll be architecting digital solutions for large and small scale projects including website launches, social media strategies and digital marketing campaigns.  You will also measure campaign and digital channel performance and analyze diverse data sets to deliver strategies and provide recommendations and ideas to clients.  Part project manager, you will be engaging and managing project teams including account representatives, user experience experts, designers, writers and developers to effectively contribute to project deliverables. You will be managing timelines, budgets, resources and communication to ensure the success of each project from idea conception through to post-production. In some cases, you may also be required to work in an inter-agency environment, coordinating digital projects across agencies.  You will also be client-facing helping account teams to liaise with and support clients and participate in presentations.Being a Digital Strategist means you’re a mentor and coach to your teams and junior staff both those with deep digital knowledge and those who are still learning the ropes.  You will foster an environment of teamwork and motivate people to achieve their potential.


  • You’re creative and can see the big picture. You’re known for your innovative thinking and ability to provide smart digital counsel to clients and staff.
  • Your presentation and persuasion skills are top notch and you’re known for your exceptional client relationship management skills because you actively listen to their needs and deliver results.
  • You have experience in managing digital projects that include corporate website builds, campaign microsites, landing page development, site maintenance and bug tracking across multiple devices and languages. Project Management certificate, an asset.
  • You have experience creating and executing digital marketing strategies across channels including social, search, email, content marketing and display advertising.
  • You have a knack for budgeting, creating and managing complex critical paths and project plans.
  • You’re organized and keep people on track and deliver projects on time ensuring quality standards are met.
  • You have the ability to converse with developers and designers and understand their recommendations and are able to articulate them to account teams and clients in a manner that makes them clear and digestible.
  • You’re a leader who doesn’t shy away from coaching and mentoring teammates and junior staff.
  • You have familiarity with or knowledge of information architecture, wireframing, tree testing, HTML/CSS, AODA accessibility standards, content management systems, digital analytics and reporting, and SEO.
  • Understanding of the following tools are considered an asset: WordPress, Smartsheets, Google Analytics, and agile or scrum-based project management techniques.
