FHR’s Toronto office is currently accepting applications for an Internship within our Public Affairs/Government Relations group, to begin in May 2018. This unique and exciting career opportunity is for a “Political Enthusiast, who demonstrates a proven understanding of the Ontario government and all its branches. Under the direction of senior management, the chosen candidate will provide a wide range of communications support, with a strong focus on research, writing, and following the developments of the Ontario General Election, 2018.

Salary: $550/weekly
Start Date: May 2018
End Date: TBC
Reports To: Partner, Public Affairs


Daily monitoring of developments in the 2018 provincial election, including party announcements, status of polls, political debates, etc. and ensuring team members are updated on relevant informationConducting research and performing scans on government and party positions, stakeholders and stakeholder positions; media issues and influencers, etc.Contribute to content development for weekly “Election Analysis”, under the direction of the senior managementAssist in the preparation of various written materials to support outreach to/with: government (political, legislative and staff); stakeholders; media, etc.Administrative duties as required


Must have strong PC skills (MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer and PowerPoint)Highly adept and capable of conducting research and environmental scans via electronic and digital mediaRemain calm under pressure and have excellent multi-tasking skillsMust possess a solid understanding of the provincial government and up to date with current issues in Ontario politicsExhibits strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and a well-defined work ethicExcellent written, oral and interpersonal skills – Demonstrating a capacity to break down and communicate complex subjects effectivelyExceptional time management skills
