Sky-high media coverage

Exclusive event gives media a taste of the Qatar Airways experience

Journalists are incredibly busy, so to capture their attention and drive coverage we needed to develop an in-person event they would never forget. We created an immersive ‘in-flight’ adventure that allowed reporters to experience every aspect of Qatar Airlines’ stunning new five-star dining offering, without ever having to leave the ground.

Media from key lifestyle, travel, food and wine publications were invited, via a boarding pass-style invitation, to come on board Qatar’s Boeing 777 that was parked on the tarmac at the Montreal airport.

Guests were greeted by flight attendants with champagne and led to their seat where they enjoyed a five-star menu in business class, complete with fine vintage wines presented by the executive chef and sommelier of the airline itself. Media also went home with top-flight souvenirs from their ‘trip’, such as QR-monogrammed pajamas.

The experience worked. A mix of 16 journalists and influencers came on board to enjoy the ‘in-flight’ experience, resulting in 15 articles across our target publications. Qatar Airways saw a strong increase in social media engagement after the event and, not surprisingly, received multiple media requests for more press trips.
